With a diverse and experienced team of conservation professionals, CIES implements on the ground restoration, research, monitoring, and environmental education initiatives across 7 of the 8 California Channel Islands including San Miguel, Santa Rosa, Santa Cruz, Anacapa, Santa Barbara, Catalina, and San Clemente Islands. We also lead and implement other projects along the western coast of the US, and in Japan for seabird monitoring and research.

OUR INITIATIVES

01. ENHANCING ISLAND ECOSYSTEMS

We are committed to protecting ecosystem health and enhancing biodiversity through innovative restoration practices, sound science, strong partnerships, and community outreach.

02. PROTECTING ISLAND BIODIVERSITY

Simply put, islands are biodiversity hotspots. We strive to protect island biodiversity by implementing effective island conservation solutions to prevent further loss within these unique ecosystems.

03. SEABIRDS AS SENTINELS

Our organization was founded on the principle of using seabirds as sentinels of island and ocean health. We continue to monitor seabird populations to detect ecosystem changes and inform management actions.

These initiatives are integral to strengthening resilience of rare ecosystems across the Channel Islands, and are possible thanks to your help.
